LoHi Community Center
CU Boulder, ENVD

The LoHi Community Center was designed as an intergenerational gathering place for a variety of events. Through my design process, I focused on creating a community building to attract all age groups.
I had three main goals when first starting this design: development of the local economy, foster community connectivity through education, and social interaction. Through these goals, I was able to create a parti diagram that helped direct the shape of my design. I used the overlapping areas as transitions for movement between the different spaces.
Then, I reviewed different facade studies to guide my exterior design and create a unique experience for the user. I looked at layering vertical and horizontal planes on top of each other for depth with natural lighting. I studied how interlocking features can develop a welcoming space.
Through this Denver-based project, I succeeded in creating a community center that was an interactive and flexible place, one that will adapt with time.
