Children, Youth & Environments Center (CYE)

I was a Graphic Illustrator during the City of Boulder’s Bike/Walk Summit, enabling the city to bring the Co-Design process for participatory design from Vancouver, Canada to the United States. As part of the process, artists work with small groups of 4-8 participants, creating scenes of public spaces as participants respond to questions about the activities they would like to engage in & sensory experiences they would like to have. Co-Design was introduce to 140 Summit participants February 6.

This is a black and white version of the original color graphic, with the features that came directly from students.

Spring 2014 I worked in a team of five Environmental Design Students to redesign CU Boulder’s Speech, Language, & Hearing/Child Learning Center (SLHC) playground which was outdated and had damage from the flood in 2013. Our assignment was to create a natural and engaging playscape that promotes outdoor learning for children of all abilities.

The curriculum “Storybook Journey” was incorporated into the play elements including a bridge, teepee, and a cave. Our design was directed towards toddlers and preschool aged children.

Worked with forty youth from the YMCA to inspire an interactive learning environment at Valmont Park

I created a photo display in the hallway out of the CYE office that represented the different community activities that the Environmental Design has been involved in.
